Sleeve Your Block? Why?

case_sleeved_sm

OEM engine blocks are casted from the factory from aluminum or from iron. Some aluminum blocks are lined with iron sleeves. We call these sleeves “liners”. The vehicles that come with a cast-iron block do not use these liners/sleeves due to them already being made from iron. For 200hp to 500hp, it is not always needed to sleeve an aluminum block. But once you blow past that mark, you put strain on the cylinder walls. This is where you start to think about “sleeving” the aluminum block. By doing this you will be significantly increasing the blocks cylinder-wall thickness and strength.
